services

Breakdown of a basic service, typically costing $50 assuming no parts need to be replaced:

  • Cleaning, interior and exterior
  • All moving parts oiled
  • Gears greased
  • Timing checked and adjusted
  • Tension checked and adjusted
  • Health of electrical assessed; wiring, lightbulb, foot pedal, motor
  • Sewing test performed as needed to ensure best possible sewing ability

If we find that there is a part in need of replacing, I will reach out to you to determine the next steps! I will never replace anything or order parts without written permission.

I specialize in vintage machines, but as long as it's a mechanical machine, I can work on it. This goes as far back as hand-turn and treadle machines, as long as they lock-stitch I know how it works. Even chain-stitch machines are not outside the realm of possibilities.

I don't know how computerized machines work! I can do very basic things like oiling the bobbin hook, but I can't guarantee any maintenance of anything controlled by the computer. Just some basic cleaning and oiling is usually enough to keep a machine going, but if anything goes wrong, I can't fix it. I may do these on a case-by-case basis until I learn about computerized sewing machines in more detail.

I'm based in Canton, GA, USA. I prefer to work on machines locally and can drive up to 10 miles away from Downtown Canton to pick up machines. I also offer shipping, at cost to the customer; be advised that this is pretty costly, depending on how far it needs to go and how heavy your particular machine is. It would likely be more cost effective for you to look into local people to you or to search online for resources to service your machine yourself.
